Dr. Bethany McKee-Alexander

Dr. Bethany McKee-Alexander

Head of School

Bethany McKee-Alexander, a Florida native, earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education (K-12) with Vocal Emphasis and a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from the University of Florida. She spent a number of years teaching music to all grade levels in Florida and North Carolina. In 2004 her husband and she moved to Greensboro, NC to work on their Doctorates. She earned a Specialist Degree in Education Administration and an Educational Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Cultural Foundations from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. In 2009 she moved to Odessa, TX with her husband and a year later they were blessed with a daughter. While in Odessa, she worked at St. Mary’s Central Catholic School as the assistant principal for two years and principal for three years. Dr. McKee-Alexander returned home to Florida in 2014 and was blessed to join the Grace Christian family. After serving as the Assistant Head of School for one year, Dr. McKee-Alexander became Head of School in 2015. Dr. McKee-Alexander is committed to providing high quality education to every child in a loving, Christ-Centered environment.

Kyle McKenzie

Kyle McKenzie, a native of Illinois, received his Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary and Middle School Education with a minor in Athletic Coaching from the University of WisconsinWhitewater. In 2008, he began teaching at St. John’s Lutheran School in Lombard, IL where he taught middle school social studies and K-8 computer technology, seeking to make learning an interactive process to improve achievement. In addition, Kyle also served as varsity volleyball coach, blessed with several successful seasons that included a State Tournament victory in 2010. In 2012, he received his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Concordia University, Chicago and became the Assistant Principal at St. John’s, focusing on school improvement in the areas of technology integration, fine arts, recruitment, and instruction. Kyle has a passion for Christian education and seeks every opportunity to uplift staff, students, and parents alike in achieving their hopes and dreams of academic success and increasing their relationship with Jesus Christ as our lord and savior. Kyle and his wife Cassie are excited to be a part of the Grace Christian community and look forward to growing their family here in Ocala.

Roxie Foster

Mrs. Roxie Foster joined the Grace Family as a parent in 1989 and then came to work in 1992 as a teacher’s assistant in K4 where she had the pleasure of working for 15 years. Roxie has been the School Receptionist since 2006.

She is the second of five girls who were born and raised in Sidney Montana. She and her husband Dennis have two children, Meagan and Conn, who both attended Grace. In her spare time she loves to quilt, paint and spend time with her family on their horse farm in the Morriston area.

She has had the pleasure of watching many children grow spiritually and academically during the past 20+ years and can think of no other job that she would rather do. Grace School has been a blessing to her family.

Mrs. Genna Ankney has been the Business Manager at Grace Christian School for 30 plus years. She and her husband Chuck have three children; two of them are alumni of Grace. Genna has been blessed with six grandchildren. She enjoys spending time with her family at the beach and reading.

Mrs. Debbie Bruni has worked at GCS since 1991. Debbie was born in Jacksonville, Florida and has lived in Ocala since 1979. She graduated from Lasell College in Auburndale, Massachusetts with a degree in Mental Health Counseling. Debbie and her husband Bob have been married since 1979. She loves spending time at the beach with her family and her chocolate lab Sammy. Both of her children and grandson graduated from Grace. Debbie loves Grace Christian School and feels blessed to be a part of such a wonderful “family”.

Kristin Dean, born and raised here in Ocala, earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Georgia Southern University. She spent a number of years teaching Kindergarten and Pre-K here at Grace. She and Husband Mike have 3 children, who all have attended GCS. After spending time at home raising her children and assisting local non profits with event planning and fundraising Kristin is thrilled to be back at Grace Christian School as the Director of Advancements. Kristin’s love for GCS and willingness to help foster growth in the community has become her passion.

Mrs. Robin Booth is ecstatic to be home! She began her relationship with Grace as a parent in 2006, where she served as homeroom mom for her son’s first grade class. In January of 2007, she was employed with Grace as a fulltime substitute. By August of that year, she found a permanent position as a first grade assistant.

Mrs. Booth is married to her husband, Doug and they have two grown adult daughters with families of their own. Their son, Hunter is currently a tenth grader at Trinity Catholic High school. They also, have a grand-daughter, Gracyn, who will be attending Grace this year. In her spare time, she loves spending time with her family, reading and sports. The Booths are members of Christ the King Anglican Church.

Ms. Pam Feaster has been at GCS off and on since 1996. She began as the K-3 assistant for nine years, then assistant for other grades since then. She loves what she does because she gets to be around all of her Grace children and watch them grow as Gods special little angels. Pam has three grown children, and two grandchildren. All of her extra time is spent with family, She feels blessed to have them so near her. Her three children attended Grace , which they still talk about to this day of how this school influenced them in their Christian upbringing. She is grateful to have Grace Christian School as her “other” family. They have been there for her on several occasions. She feels truly blessed. GOD is an Awesome GOD!

Mrs. Stacey Gibson feels blessed to have worked at Grace starting in 1998 as the teacher of the K-3 program. She taught there for 6 years and then moved up to K-4 and has been there ever since. Three of her children went to Grace. Stacey has been married to her husband, Barry for 27 years. Their oldest son, Jetti is in the JAG Corps. in the Navy. Savana is a registered nurse and mother to their first grandchild, Aubrey. Chaz is in the Air Force and lives with his wife, Danielle, in New Mexico and their youngest is in college at F.S.U. She thanks God everyday that she is surrounded with godly people at Grace Christian School.

Mrs. Priscilla Estes is a native of Ocala and attended Grace when she was in kindergarten. She is married to Robert Estes and they have two children who attended Grace Christian School. She started "working" at Grace as a parent volunteer, then as a substitute teacher, and in 2005 she was hired as a teacher assistant. Priscilla worked in 2nd grade for seven years and moved to K-4 in 2012. She feels very blessed to be a part of the Grace family.

Ms. Harper graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from the University of South Florida. She earned a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of other Languages) in August 2015 from the University of North Florida. Christina is an alumnae of Grace School and is thrilled to be returning to the Grace family.

Nadine has been an assistant teaching at various grade levels since beginning at Grace Christian School in 2004. In addition to working in the classroom, she designs and edits the school yearbook. Both positions have been extremely rewarding and she feels blessed to have been given the opportunity to be part of the close-knit, family atmosphere at Grace! Nadine is currently pursuing her degree in early childhood education. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her two daughters (both GCS alumni), working on home improvement projects, and painting.

Ms. Kelsey Atkins was born and raised in the suburbs of Indianapolis, Indiana. She moved to Ocala in 2010 with her mother and daughter, Aubri, who started Kindergarten at Grace in 2013. Through volunteering in the K5 classroom, Kelsey discovered her love of teaching and started classes to get her teaching degree at the College of Central Florida. The following year she started as a substitute teacher and then began working at Grace full-time. She is so thankful for the loving family at Grace that helped her discover God's calling for her life.

Mrs. Stephanie Salmon has been with Grace Christian School since 2003 as a parent and volunteer. She started as a part-time teacher's assistant in 2011. She feels blessed to be at Grace and loves working with children. Stephanie has been married to her husband Jim since 1996 and they have two children. She enjoys camping, hiking, kayaking, and spending time with her family, friends and pets.

Mrs. Kathy Franklin is a native Floridian and moved from Orlando to Ocala with her husband and two children in 1990. She received her AA degree from Seminole State College, attended Ringling School of Art, and obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from St Leo University. Kathy has had the privilege of being an educator of young children for over 15 years. Always a lifelong learner, Kathy’s career at Grace began as a first grade teacher in 2001 and recently she completed her elementary gifted endorsement. Besides drawing, quilting, traveling, and spending time with her family, Kathy loves to create hands-on learning experiences in the classroom and praises God for allowing her to share in the discovery experiences of His world through the eyes of a first grader each day!

Ms. Young feels blessed to have been a member of the Grace family since 1989. Her children, Laura, Scott, and Ellen Tomaszewski, are all alumni of Grace. She worked as a volunteer while her children attended school and then joined the staff in 2004 as a kindergarten teacher. Cheryl is a graduate of The University of Florida, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. Now, with 14 years experience teaching kindergarten, she is looking forward to teaching first grade!

Mrs. Mary Fulkerson graduated school in Lancaster County, Pa. Her family moved to Florida in 1977. She attended CFCC for college classes. Mary met her husband, Jason in 1984. They married the following year. They have four children and six grandchildren with one on the way for which it will due on February 2016. Mary has been at Grace Christian School since 2005, and loves it! She is a big Florida State fan and loves to go to the football games. She is a member of Church @the Springs. She loves DIY projects along with painting, landscaping, listening to Christian music and reading. She has been a cancer survivor since 2004. She feels blessed with each new day that God gives her.

Sarah Curran

Sarah Curran was born in Portugal, where her parents served as missionaries for many years. Sarah later moved to Lancaster, Pennsylvania with her family. She was homeschooled through most of her school career, but she knew she wanted to be a teacher when she realized that most of her life she had spent time with groups of younger children, playing with them, reading to them, and teaching them. The family moved to Ocala, Florida in 1999, and Sarah enjoyed dual enrolling at Central Florida Community College during her senior year of high school. She continued to attend CF, and obtained her AA in 2003. She then transferred to Southeastern University, a Christian liberal arts college in Lakeland, Florida. While there, she majored in Elementary Education and double-minored in English and Religion. She graduated summa cum laude and received an award for most outstanding Elementary Education major. She began her teaching career at Marion Charter School in Ocala, Florida and taught fourth grade for two years and second grade for 8 1/2 years. This year, she was thrilled to relocate to Grace Christian School and has enjoyed teaching second grade the remainder of this school year. She loves how there is a whole different atmosphere of love and a striving to do good here at GCS. She can't wait to see God's hand continuing to work in her life here in her new home.

Ashley Hinkle

Ashley Hinkle is a graduate of West Virginia University with a Bachelor and Masters of Arts in Elementary Education. She holds certification in both West Virginia and Florida. She previously taught Pre-K in West Virginia for three years and is very excited and blessed to now be teaching third grade. Ashley loves spending time with her daughter Savannah, who is also a student at Grace Christian School.

Kelsey Broadbent

Ms. Kelsey Broadbent graduated with a Bachelor degree in Business Administration from the University of Florida. There she truly discovered her passion for educating and developing leadership in others. She organized for student volunteers to teach Junior Achievement lessons throughout seventy-nine Alachua county schools. After she experienced being a financial representative for Northwestern Mutual and retail management she earned her teaching certification at Santa Fe College. While attending their Educator Preparation Institute she worked at Buchholz High School and coached their Junior Varsity softball team. For the past two years Kelsey taught middle school autistic children with varying cognitive and life skill abilities. It is her only desire to serve others by showing God’s love by having strength through faith in Christ our Lord. Kelsey will always strive to challenge her students to make decisions from the heart and reach their full potential. When she is not encouraging students to have a passion for meaningful learning she enjoys water and outdoor activities. Originally from Ocala she will either bike a country road or canoe down a river on the weekends. Kelsey attends and serves the children’s ministry at Celebration Orlando and very much enjoys continuing her faith while teaching at Grace.

Cheryl Arnold

4th/5th Grade Language Arts & Social Studies Teacher

Cheryl was a lifelong Chicago area resident prior to relocating to Ocala with her husband in the summer of 2015. She received a BA in history from Trinity College in Deerfield, Illinois, and then worked as an editor and proofreader for various technical publications. After having children, she volunteered in children’s ministries at church and at her daughters’ elementary school, and during that time she felt a call to teach. She returned to Trinity to obtain an elementary teaching certificate with middle school endorsements in language arts and social science. She has taught kindergarten and first grade in Christian schools and also worked in public schools as a long-term substitute reading specialist for grades K-4, a substitute teacher for grades K-8, a summer school teacher for grades K-4, and a one-on-one aide for mainstreamed special education students with Down syndrome and autism in second, third, and fifth grade classrooms. She loves teaching in a Christian school because she can help students grow spiritually as well as academically, socially, and emotionally.

Cheryl and her husband Mike have two grown daughters. Cheryl enjoys reading, gathering with friends, and attending classical concerts, musicals, and plays. Cheryl and Mike are looking forward to exploring Florida as they embark on this new adventure.

Danielle Pendleton

Danielle Pendleton was born and raised in Ocala. After receiving her BS in Marketing and Finance from Florida State University, she returned to Ocala and married her husband, Palmer. After several years in banking, finance, and small business ownership, she began teaching 5th grade at Hale Academy. While at Hale Academy, Mrs. Pendleton designed and maintained the website, taught third through sixth grade, was the technology integration specialist, and math coordinator. When Hale Academy closed, Mrs. Pendleton began teaching 7th and 8th grade Pre-Algebra and Algebra at Blessed Trinity School. While at Blessed Trinity, Mrs. Pendleton also coached the Math Counts and Golf teams and assisted in coaching the cheerleading squad. She is currently working toward her M.Ed in Advanced Studies with a Major in Mathematics. In her spare time, she enjoys running, softball, and spending time with her family.

Ms. Katelynn Usher is a proud Grace Christian School alumna, born and raised in Ocala. After Grace, she attended Trinity Catholic High School, and later earned both her Bachelor’s in Communication with a minor in Education in 2014, and her Master’s in Education, specifically in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) in 2015 from Florida State University. Ms. Usher has tutored in individual and group settings ranging in age from 3rd-8th grade to adults, and greatly enjoyed being a Teaching Assistant throughout her collegiate career. She is currently working on her State of Florida Certification to become a full time teacher. Ms. Usher loves spending time with her family and friends, playing volleyball, being outdoors, running, reading, traveling, and being around children! Ms. Usher is so grateful to be back at GCS to serve in such a community of God.

Tammy Adcock has taught middle school math at Grace Christian school since 2003 and feels blessed every day to work with such wonderful people. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business with a specialization in Accounting and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Tammy has been married to her husband, Chris, for over twenty years and they have two wonderful children, Tyler and Caitlin. Tammy’s hobbies include spending time with her family, going to the beach and reading.

Rachel Kelly first began teaching at Grace in 1999 when her children began preschool here. Over the years she has taught both middle school science and fourth grade, while also taking time off to be a mom! Her children, Katherine and Shane, are Grace graduates and are thriving in the world! After graduating from Le Moyne College (Syracuse, NY) with a degree in English and education, she enjoyed teaching English at both Forest High School and CFCC. Rachel currently holds current certifications in English (grades 6 - 12) and as a media specialist (grades K5-12).
Rachel and her husband, Greg grew up in a small town on Long Island, and they moved to Ocala over twenty years ago. It didn’t take them long, especially after discovering Grace, to realize this is where they wanted to raise their children. A strong bond with their church and the spiritual life they have grown to love at Grace keeps them grounded and focused. They both enjoy being active which includes surviving an occasional triathlon, coaching various youth teams, and watching our own children compete. Their escape during the summer has always been the beach where they reconnect with family and friends.

Trevor Roberts

Mr. Roberts is an Ocala native with a strong love for our town and community. This is his second year in education and he is extremely honored, excited, and blessed to be with us. Mr. Roberts has an associate’s degree of science in elementary education from The College of Central Florida and a bachelor’s degree in the science of psychology from the University of Central Florida. He has been with his wife, Ali Roberts, for eight years and happily married for six. They have two amazing children together, Laney, who will be five in October and Ryder, who turned one in May. Mr. Roberts understands the benefits of children learning in a Christ based learning facility and is proud to be a part of the family. Mr. Roberts is an avid outdoorsman and in his personal time enjoys boating and fishing with his wife and children. Prior to working in education Mr. Roberts worked as a surveyor technician for eight years. His work includes assisting in hundreds of field surveys and construction stakeout assignments in central Florida including commercial site development, land development, boundary surveys, tree location, topographic surveys, wetland jurisdiction surveys, FEMA flood elevation surveys, and many other surveys and field services. He maintains a Florida Department of Transportation - Maintenance of Traffic Certification and holds a certification of Florida Storm water Erosion and Sedimentation Control Inspector.

Jon Miller

Social Studies Teacher & Athletic Director

Mr. Jon Miller, an Illinois native, is proudly married to Mrs. Heather Miller. This will begin his 6th year teaching (1st at Grace Christian School). He has taught a wide variety of subjects within social studies and the criminal justice field throughout his teaching career. He believes that letting students get hands-on and involved in social studies is the best way to teach them to become better learners. While he says some days he needs to lecture, his favorite way to teach is through debate and discussion, allowing students to explore social studies through group projects and field trips to bring history to life. He also uses these moments to create fun and engaging projects for his students, where they apply what they've learned in class in an entertaining and informative way.

Mr. Miller has a passion for sports and traveling and has coached a wide variety of sports. He has played collegiate football and soccer along with professional football with a number of arena
football teams.

Mr. Miller and his family have a strong spiritual belief and he feels very blessed and honored to be at Grace Christian School.

Matthew Mackenzie

Mr. Matthew MacKenzie began teaching at Grace in 2014. He was born and raised in Ocala and was a student at Grace School, class of 2001. Matthew has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of South Florida. In 2010, he began working at Christ the King Anglican Church as their Youth Minister. He continues in that position today. Matthew is currently working on a MDiv from Reformed Theological Seminary. In his free time he enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling and enjoying the outdoors.

Mrs. Nina Canfield, is from Colombia, South America. She has lived in the US for 23 years. She met her husband Chuck while visiting in Orlando. They have two wonderful daughters, Rebecca and Deanna. Nina has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from St. Leo University, and a certificate on hotels administration from Colombia. She has worked in Colombia in public relations in different hotels, and teaching English to people who traveled for business.

She has taught Spanish at Grace School since 2001. She loves what she does and feels very proud of her students for the effort they put on learning a foreign language and for the love that they demonstrate for each other. She enjoys being with friends and family, swimming, drinking cappuccinos and having a good book always with her.

Mr. Robert Ramirez has worked at Grace Christian School since 2001. He is married to Heather and has a son, Scot Dylan who is attending GCS. Before coming to GCS, Robert taught P.E. at Blessed Trinity School, where he was Athletic Director for 10 years.

Mr. Ryan Owens has been a part of the Grace team since 2007, teaching 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grades. Raised in Ocala, Ryan played college baseball for the Central Florida Patriots and the Warner University Royals. Ryan recently earned his M.Ed. degree in Educational Leadership from the University of West Florida. In his free time, Ryan enjoys spending time with his wife, Ashley, and their two children, Addison and Parker. When not with family, you can usually find him enjoying the outdoors.

Mrs. Sharon Whitehouse teaches Music to K3 through 3rd Grades. She also directs the 6th Grade Bell Choir and leads the music for the school’s weekly church service. She began working at Grace in 1977 as a 5th Grade teacher after having taught 2nd and 3rd Grades in public school in Jefferson County, Florida. After her first child was born, she retired to be a full time mother for several years and returned to Grace in 1983 as a Music teacher. She feels blessed to have been in that position since then! Sharon graduated from Colorado College with a double major in Elementary Education and Music Education. She has been married to her husband, Will, since 1974. They have two sons and two grandchildren. They are active members of Christ the King Anglican Church where she plays keyboard and sings in the choir. Outside of school she loves spending time with her family, boating, and traveling.

Luke Ferguson

Luke C. Ferguson, our Chorus and teacher, has a B.A. in Music Theory and Composition from Covenant College, and a M Div. From Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Music and God’s Word are two of his favorite things in the world, and he has a great love for children. He and his wife Rebekah live here in Ocala.

In addition to teaching school at Grace, he is currently serving Christ the King Anglican Church as their Sunday Evening Worship minister, and teaches piano and guitar on the side. He is very honored and thankful to be a part of the lives of the students.

Jack Covell

Jack Covell

Jack Covell’s dad was the original Tonight Show Band’s saxophone player, and New Jersey’s most trusted horn repairman. There were always famous musicians of the day and their music in the Covell home, and Jack began playing clarinet and flute starting in the 4 th grade. In high school, he earned placement in both New Jersey’s All State Band, and All State Orchestra, later receiving his bachelors degree from New Jersey’s William Patterson University, and Masters Degree from Florida’s Nova Southeastern University. Criteria Studios is legendary in South Florida, and Jack was a freelance studio musician there in the early 1970’s, playing on classic albums you likely have in your music collection. He taught music in South Florida’s school system for more than 30 years, and currently accepts students on guitar, bass, clarinet, flute, mandolin, and music theory, and was the National Society of Arts and Letters’ 2014 “Teacher of the Year”.

Ninette Clauss has a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Florida State University. Upon graduation she moved to Ocala and has been here ever since. She taught elementary and middle school in Marion County Public Schools until she got married and stayed home to start a family. Her children are now 19, 17, and 9 so she is ready to get back to work. Ninette has a passion for children’s literature and is thrilled to be the librarian at Grace where she can share that passion and instill a love of reading with all of her students. She even has a big, fat cat named Skippyjon Jones after the beloved children’s book of the same name.

When not in the library at Grace, Ninette loves to travel and read (of course!) Living in Marion County means being close to everything in the southeast, so road trips are the best! Whether it’s a FSU football weekend, a run down to the Keys, or relaxing in St Augustine…she’s always ready!

I come from a Christian background in a small country town near Gainesville, FL. I have family in Georgia, New York, Pennsylvania, Miami and Germany and other parts of the world.

Poetry, graphic design, reading, bowling, pool, beaches, shopping, movies and "eating at fabulous restaurants" are my favorite things to do. Did I mention sleep is almost my number one passion and that I love to cook & bake (party of 4 or less). I am a Seafood lover who enjoys graphic design, Gospel music and I am in a slow process of teaching myself Spanish.

I am single woman with no children who awaits the God-fearing man that God has appointed me to marry sooooon. I'm an Alumni Graduate of Florida International University, where I received a Master's degree.

I have taught in public schools at the Elementary and Middle School level. One day I plan to visit Paris and Hawaii and retire later in life someplace warm. In my spare time I like taking pictures, planning events & cruises. In addition, I am a certified nail tech but that's my little secret.

Family is important to me and I base my foundation of life on the Word of God. I attend New Beginnings Deliverance Inc in Dunnellon Florida under my leader Apostle Washington. I am a believer of the Trinity and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; he is the truth and the light whom has led me to become an Art Teacher at Grace Christian School where the love of God is expressed, shown and seen in everyone.
